Beyond Theory

Supervisor: prof. ucz. dr hab. Zuzanna Ładyga-Michalska

President: Kalina Rukat

Would you like to dazzle your colleagues with your impressive knowledge of philosophy? Are you a fan of zany, obscure theories that are somehow actually right about the world?

Well, then you’re in the right place! At Beyond Theory, we’d like to invite you into the often puzzling, strange world of critical theories — and make it fun, while we’re at it! Through in-depth reading of critical texts and group discussions we attempt to make sense of the world around us. Our goal is not only to provide theoretical knowledge, but to prepare our fellow students for writing and future publications of academic texts, joining various university conferences and taking active part during academic events and lectures.

We meet once a month on Fridays, in 18:30 at room 3.415. Join us today!

Upcoming meetings:

20.02 René Girard, Violence and the Sacred

6.03 Jacques Derrida, “Plato’s Pharmacy,” in Dissemination

10.04 Maurice Blanchot, The Writing of the Disaster

8.05 Bernard Stiegler, Technics and Time, 1: The Fault of Epimetheus
