In order to participate in the admissions process you must register an account at the IRK website (www.irk.uw.edu.pl), providing your personal information as well as information regarding the secondary school you graduated from. You should then select your chosen subject and mode of studies, and pay the admission fee.
What should I do to participate in the admissions process for a Graduate programme at the Institute of English Studies?
In order to participate in the admissions process you must register an account at the IRK website (www.irk.uw.edu.pl), providing your personal information as well as information regarding your BA/MA diploma. You should then select your chosen subject and mode of studies, choose a C1 language exam date (if you have not passed it yet - see below) as well as a subject examination date, and pay the admission fee.
Admissions are determined by a two-part examination - a C1 language test and a subject examination. Those who possess a C1 English language certificate issued by the University of Warsaw in the past 5 years may opt not to write the test. Documents should be submitted only after the information about being accepted for the programme appears on your IRK account page. The list of required documents, as well as the time and place for their submission will be sent to your personal IRK account.
What is a contract for paying for studies and why do I have to sign it?
Signing a contract for paying for educational services offered during intramural studies (studia stacjonarne) is required by the state bill Ustawa Prawo o szkolnictwie wyższym z dnia 18 marca 2011. What are the conditions necessary for transferring to an Undergraduate programme at the Institute of English Studies?
The Director of the Institute considers applications for transferring to an Undergraduate programme at the Institute of English Studies on the basis of the following criteria: the student’s average overall score (minimum 4.5); and the number of courses that need to be completed due to programme differences. The candidate must submit an application letter, along with an excerpt from their student’s book documenting their scores and completed courses, to the director of student affairs at the Institute of English Studies.
Attention: transfers are only available to students of other public universities.

Transferring to a Graduate programme is similar to the procedure for transferring to an Undergraduate programme. Before submitting the transfer application, the candidate must obtain the permission of the lecturer teaching the MA seminar in which they are interested for joining the seminar. The lecturer must also agree to become the student’s promoter.
At which point during the Graduate programme do I select a specialisation?
Candidates make their final choice of specialisation when applying for admission. Attention! The chosen specialisation can differ from the one selected during the subject examination.
