14:00–16:00–Opening of the jubilee celebrations.

The celebrations will be opened by the Prof. Alojzy Nowak. Rector of UW; Prof. Robert Małecki, Dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages; Dr hab. Agnieszka Piskorska, Director of the Institute of English Studies

  • screening of the documentary "From Krakowskie Przedmieście 9 to Dobra 55" (10 minutes)
  • Rector's Awards for outstanding services to the Institute of English Studies
  • speeches by invited guests
  • lecture by Dr. Paweł Poszytek, director of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and graduate of IES, entitled "Humanities in Our World" (30 minutes)

16:00–16:30 – coffee break

16:30–17:30 – Plenary lecture: Prof. Lennard J. Davis (University of Illinois Chicago), "What's At Stake in the Contemporary Call for Representation?: The Justification of Diversity and the Problematics of Adulating Signs"

17:30–18:30 – Concert  Music for a while: The sound of English Baroque performed by soprano Antonina Ruda and a quartet of period instruments 

18:30–20:00 – Banquet: Australian Garden, Dobra 55 street
