Ula Skalmowska i Kasia Jaworska took part in the “Human | Nature: Transplantation, Liminality, and Territory” student conference at the University of Worcester. Read below about their trip!

Hello! We are Ula and Kasia - second year MA students at the English Institute. At the beginning of May we made a trip to the UK to speak at the „Human | Nature: Transplantation, Liminality, and Territory” conference at the University of Worcester. The event was organized as an assignment by a group of students from the School of Humanities. What is more, the students not only organized but also presented their research. It was a day filled with fascinating talks about blurred lines between the human and the natural. Our presentation „On Politics in Romeo i Julia, Warsaw 1968” closed the conference. The day concluded with celebratory drinks at the local victorian pub with students and professors.

During the short stay in Worcester we were treated with a tour of the town and the University buildings by Becka, one of the organizers and speakers of the conference. The absolute highlight of the tour was visit at the Worcester Cathedral’s archives where we not only looked at various medieval manuscripts but were also able to handle volumes dating back as far as the 15th century.

We used this opportunity to visit Oxford and take a walk around the vast grounds of the Magdalen College as well. Finally, we spent the weekend in London to observe the celebrations accompanying the coronation of King Charles III.
