Open lecture - Kevin Fitzsimons: Soft Power After the Algorithm: Culture, Trust and Influence in the Digital Age- Institute of English Studies

Kevin Fitzsimons, the Director of British Council Poland, will deliver a lecture that explores how culture, trust and influence operate in a world shaped by digital platforms, creators, AI, disinformation and fragmented attention.

The lecture argues that soft power is no longer simply projected by institutions, but co-created — and contested — through networks, communities, stories and shared cultural moments.
It asks how cultural diplomacy can remain credible, human and effective when influence moves faster than institutions can control, and truth itself is increasingly under pressure.
