The Institute of English Studies mourns the passing of Professor Ewa Geller, an outstanding linguist and Deputy Dean for Research at the Faculty of Modern Languages between 2015-2020. Professor Geller’s research on Yiddish won her international recognition. She was awarded a number of prestigious distinctions and prizes, such as the Jan Karski and Pola Nireńska Award for popularising Jewish history and culture, and many Rector’s Awards for excellence in research, including a lifetime achievement award.
