Research interests and projects

My research interests are threefold:

a) foreign language didactics as an autonomous empirical discipline in the area of humanities with its specialized levels of research, with pure and applied goals, representing language use and learning from its very own specific perspective as an empirical system to be investigated by a variety of research methods and tools, both empirical and theoretical;

b) cognitive and psycholinguistic foundations of foreign language didactics, especially cognitive models and conceptions of human information processing; the idea of science as a culturally determined form of communication as well as a specialization of human cognitive processes; models of communication, especially verbal communication; processes of discourse comprehension and production in speech and writing, second/foreign language use and learning;

c) teaching English as a foreign language in the educational context; methods and strategies of teaching English as a foreign language; foreign language teaching as organic cultivation; reasoning processes in language use and learning; whole-person involvement and learner-centredness; life-span perspective of language use, learning and teaching; task as a unit of foreign language teaching.
